Join our evening to enjoy the exhibition, have a drink and mingle, and above all, get a chance to buy contemporary artworks by an eclectic mix of Athens-based and international artists with starting prices that are unique to Dead Darlings!
Dead darlings are works from the archive that need one last glorious moment in the spotlight, before being offered up at a symbolically low starting price, because if it wasn’t for our open call, they would probably have stayed buried in the archive. It’s time to give them some love and find them a new home (maybe yours)!
In our online catalogue and printed auction guide, you will find all the relevant information for each piece - except the name of the artist! The name of the maker will only be revealed live after the sale, adding excitement to the moment, and ensuring that people bid for a work they connect to intuitively. This way, you choose what you like, not who you like. Our collective is about community and solidarity. Proceeds from the sales will be used to cover costs and then divided equally among the artists!
Easter will be behind us, but this “Ressurauction” offers eternal life to the artworks you connect with. Agios Votanikos will be taking care of the bar for the evening, with homemade kombucha, local wine and beer, and a special Dead Darlings Cocktail!
Entrance is free, the atmosphere is focused but casual, and you are free to come and go as you please!
So come, bring your friends, your wallets, your open minds, and prepare for an experience!
Come early to see the work up close, sign up, and get a good seat. The auction starts at 18:00 sharp!
*Dead darlings are works that for whatever reason have not been brought to light. They are the works that fell between the cracks during the artistic process, divergent experiments, outliers... They have lost their context. They are valued by the artist, but would not normally be for sale. We cherish those children of the shadows, and offer them a chance to live again, a chance to live with you…
