Dead Darlings #6
INNER CIRCLE
Sixth Edition — 10 September 2011
De Brakke Grond, Amsterdam
Inner Circle is the only event for which we did not issue an open call. There was simply no time. We were invited to participate in the program of the photo festival Second Act, investigating the intersections between photography and performance, and the potential and pitfalls of photographic documentation in general.

Because of the time constraint, we asked some of our “usual suspects”, meaning artists within our network most of whom had participated before and were familiar with the Dead Darlings procedure. For this reason the catalogue for that edition was and remains in the digital realm.

Even although this was a more minimal event, we were happy to discover that the spirit of Dead Darlings had established itself by then to the point where that did not really affect the final outcome or the enthusiasm of our audience.
More photographs from the event
The fact that the auction was held on the stage of a theater, helped emphasize the performative elements of Dead Darlings, something we were beginning to pay more and more attention to ourselves.
