Dead Darlings #3
A—TYPICAL
Third Edition — 21 February 2009
Mediamatic Bank, Amsterdam
By the time our third event occurred, this time with the support of Mediamatic, people had already started to speculate more actively on who made what.
A few predictable works easily had given away the identity of their makers especially because, in our small Amsterdam art circle everyone was more or less acquainted with each other’s work, as long it was presented at an opening where the drinks were free!
So, for this third auction we asked for A-typical works, works that would not be easily recognizable because the theme, the medium, or the technique were A-typical of the maker.
This led to seeing different and surprising facets of artists we thought we knew and also led to extra confusion concerning the authorship of works. That was fun. Our catalogue was pink and had a fold out poster with all of the names of the artists printed over a group photo of the Dead Darlings team. That was also fun!
